Lieutenant Denise King

I can still see your smile so clearly in my mind.
It was one of love and caring because you were so kind.

You did your job well and without complaint,
You enjoyed what you did without restraint.

I am speaking of you today in the past tense,
Even though we knew this day was a pretense.

That didn’t make it easier for us to accept this day,
Knowing the time would come for you to go away.

You would have been pleased to see how much we cared,
That our “Officer Down” could not have been spared.

So while you’re flying high and with no more pain,
We’ll remember your smile for when we meet again.

R.I.P Lieutenant Denise King
