Jesus is Mine!

And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

Someone once told Billy Graham, "I don't go to church because it is full of hypocrites." Billy just smiled and said, "Then you should come join us. You would fit right in!" There are many who consider themselves "experts" at identifying hypocrisy in others, but how skilled are they at applying that same expertise to themselves?

When our hearts reveal our own hypocrisy, do we strike a compromise in our own heart? Do we bring the hypocrisy of others to light in order that we may hide our own in darkness? This is the heart of Cain. It is a denial of the power of God and a dependency upon self. This self-condemnation cannot be relieved by our own efforts...it will only make it worse. We may hide the content of our hearts from others, but we cannot hide it from ourselves and God.

There are those who do not hold to the assurance that God has freely given us in Jesus Christ although scripture is clear that we have this eternal assurance. Why? Because they have hidden their hearts in darkness, just as Cain. They are depending upon themselves to right the wrongs of their own hearts by their own power. Doomed to failure. Their hearts are in darkness and filled with the same.

Our hearts reveal to us our true selves. If we are depending upon ourselves to make it clean, we are washing it with dirty water. Only the Living Waters can adequately cleanse it. No matter the amount of "good deeds" we do will compensate for the darkness that lies within. We stand condemned by our own hearts. We must present out hearts as they are to God Who is the Light in order that HE may cleanse it.

When we walk in the Light as He is in the Light, our hearts are clean before Him, our fellow man...and ourselves. This is to be our walk. It is the sphere of power and righteousness for the Believer. It is our Blessed Assurance! We ARE eternally saved, yet we do not enjoy this Blessed Assurance when our hearts are in darkness.

Walk in the Light as He is in the Light, and hide not your heart in darkness. In the Light there is no condemnation from our hearts.

Have a Blessed Day!
