The Red Carpet and Purple Cord
The last time I watched the Academy Awards was when Sissy Spacek was nominated for her role in Coal Miner's Daughter. As a movie fan, I used to watch the Oscars every year. I remember when Elizabeth Taylor lead the attendees and the viewers in singing God Bless America.
But no more, or any of the "award" shows for that matter. Before the events begin, the cameras and reporters are stationed along the red carpet at the entrance. On either side of the red carpet is a purple cord. This is to separate the celebrity elites from the unwashed masses assembled to fawn and idolize over them.
There was a time that the celebrities knew it was their fans who bankrolled their success. If their movie was a box office success it meant these fans laid down their hard earned money for a ticket. The more the movie made, the more an actor could demand to be in the next one.
Now, these actors believe they are better than those who pay to see them. The actors, music performers, etc., talk down to them and blast indignities at them for not supporting their Socialist ideals. What they don't understand is that they can afford to be Socialists. We can't.
I came to realize as a Christian, that we as believers in Jesus Christ are not the unwashed masses. They are. The Lord has rolled out the red carpet for us ... all the way to Heaven. It is the ministry of every born again believer to offer what has been freely given to us. The ones on the other side of the purple cord must be offered the opportunity to walk on the red carpet with us.
God sees us as celebrities because we celebrate God. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. From what?
