North Island Lighthouse

GCL This postcard from 1921 shows the North Island Lighthouse, also known as the Georgetown Lighthouse and it is located on the southern end of North Island near Winyah Bay's entrance. The lighthouse was built in 1811 and was the only structure to survive the Hurricane of 1822, which wiped out most other structures in the area! by Connie Jayroe-Owens
