The Princess Theater

The Princess Theater sat at 624 Front Street in Georgetown. This photo, dated between 1914-1916, shows Thomas Barfield, Wilson Arnholter, and Henry Young proudly sitting in their car in front of the theater. The theater was built in 1914 and Barfield, the owner, claimed it to be fireproof. It contained 304 opera chairs and the theater opened to a packed house on May 23, 1914. Unfortunately, the theater was destroyed by fire in October 1916. The lot remained empty until January 1925, when a house was built for the Young family. The house still stands today.
